Religious Education

Children who attend public school do not receive Catholic religious formation as part of their regular education, so each parish is responsible for offering programs of religious education to these children and their families.

If you have a child who attends public school in Kindergarten through grade 8, contact the DRE, Cassandra Palmer

At OLV, our Religious Education is a Sunday morning program held during the months of September through April, from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m., thus enabling families to attend either our 8 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. mass. Classes are offered for Pre-Kindergarten through grade 8.

We use a lectionary based curriculum text that focuses on the basics of our faith. Our program emphasizes parental involvement and learning as a family unit and includes monthly sessions for the whole family to learn together.  New families and/or catechists (teachers) are always welcome. Attendance at this program is a prerequisite for and requirement of our sacramental preparation processes.

If you are interested in becoming a catechist, you must be a practicing Catholic, at least 18 years old, and be fully VIRTUS compliant.

Contact Kathleen Clark for more information on the process for obtaining VIRTUS compliance.
