Children’s Religious Education (GIFT):
Children who attend public school do not receive formation in their Faith as part of their regular education, so each parish is responsible for offering programs of religious education to these children and their families. At OLV, we call our program GIFT, which stands for Growing In Faith Together.
GIFT is a Sunday morning program held during the months of September through April, from 9:00 to 10:15 AM, thus enabling families to attend either our 8 AM or 10:30 AM mass. Classes are offered for Kindergarten through grade 8.
We use lectionary-based materials, which means the learning focuses on the Sunday Scriptures. It is our hope that the children will learn about and from the readings of each week’s mass. Our program emphasizes parental involvement and learning as a family unit.
New families and/or catechists(teachers) are always welcome. Attendance at this program is a prerequisite for and requirement of our sacramental preparation processes.
