Religious Education for Children and Families (G.I.F.T.)

Children who attend public school do not receive formation in their Faith as part of their regular education, so each parish is responsible for offering programs of religious education to these children and their families. At OLV, we call our program “Growing In Faith Together (GIFT).”

GIFT is a Sunday morning program held during the months of September through April, from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m., thus enabling families to attend either our 8 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. mass. Classes are offered for Kindergarten through grade 8.

We use a spiral-based curriculum text that focuses on the basics of our faith. Our program emphasizes parental involvement and learning as a family unit.  New families and/or catechists (teachers) are always welcome. Attendance at this program is a prerequisite for and requirement of our sacramental preparation processes.

If you are interested in becoming a catechist, you must be a practicing Catholic, at least 18 years old, and be fully STAND compliant.

Contact Gloria Smith at 410-242-9533 or for more information on the process for becoming a catechist and for obtaining STAND compliance.

If you have a child who is enrolled in public school in Kindergarten through grade 8, contact Gloria Smith at 410-242-9533 or to enroll your child in the GIFT program.
